Socialists, communists, and many other leftists see themselves are rebels. They believe that they're revolutionaries fighting against a corrupt and oppressive society. While there are some rebels amongst today's leftists, many of them are actually rule followers to the extreme. Rather than fighting against society, they're fighting for it.
Of all the branches of anarchist theory, illegalism stands as the most honest. It does away with all of the pretension that plague so many other schools of anarchist thought. Unfortunately it doesn't get its deserved time in the spotlight. Don't worry, despite the title, this won't be written in poetic form.
No, I haven't taken a leave of my senses and suddenly become stupid enough to believe that communism is a workable philosophy. But a quick read of history since the Bolshevik revolution in Russia will lead you to conclude that communism, at least as a strategy for gaining power, is very effective. It is that point I'm discussing in this post.
